Leadership
Devotions:
“And he came to Capernaum: and being in the house he asked them, What was it that ye disputed among yourselves by the way? But they held their peace: for by the way they had disputed among themselves, who should be the greatest. And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all. And he took a child, and set him in the midst of them: and when he had taken him in his arms, he said unto them, Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.”
Mark 9:33-37 KJV
The Kindgom of God functions the exact opposite of the world. In the world the leader is the top dog and expects to be served. In the kingdom the leader is the servant of all. When God anoints you as leader you enter into a place of servanthood. The greater the leader the greater the servant. This does not mean that the leader ends up doing menial jobs, jobs like sweeping floors or cleaning toilets. He should not be opposed to these jobs to do them. he should not be opposed to conversing with a little child. But the leader has a responsibility to fulfill which he cannot neglect. So he stays humble while fulfilling the calling to lead. Our calling is to serve everyone. When we seek to advance ourselves then we are out of God's will. As we humble ourselves, God will advance us.
“Therefore humble yourselves [demote, lower yourselves in your own estimation] under the mighty hand of God, that in due time He may exalt you,” 1 Peter 5:6 AMPC
Some think that any exaltation is against God. But as we walk humbly, God will exalt us but we must remain humble. That is acknowledging that where we are is totally God's doing and our desire is to serve our brothers and sisters. If we get into pride thinking that is because of our talents and abilities that we succeed, we will fall. Leadership is servanthood.
