The Works of Jesus

Devotions:

“Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words which I speak to you I do not speak from myself; but the Father who abides in me, he does the works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father in me; but if not, believe me for the works' sake themselves. Verily, verily, I say to you, He that believes on me, the works which I do shall he do also, and he shall do greater than these, because I go to the Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, this will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it.” ‭John‬ ‭14:10-14‬ ‭DARBY‬‬

Jesus said that we would do greater works than Him if we believed because He went to the Father.  You will notice here that the works that Jesus did He attributed to His Father's presence in Him and His presence in the Father.  Jesus spoke the words, be healed and the Father did the work.  Elsewhere Jesus said that He only said what He heard the Father speaking and only did what He saw the Father doing.

So in Jesus' death, burial and resurrection on our behalf He opened the door for us to dwell in the Father and the Father to dwell in us.  The Father indwelt us but the new birth but by the power of the Spirit we must be in connection with the Father.  If we ignore His presence within us then we walk as carnal men and women.  But as we spend time with Him daily we become more and more aware of His presence in us and us in Him.  As He abides in us and we abide in Him we do the work of Jesus.  We are ever aware that it is not I that do the work but the Father dwelling in us.  Then there is no human sickness, disease or deformity that cannot be cured or restored to totally normal by the presence of the Father moving through us but His gifts or through using our faith. When we know it is only the Father that does the works so that He gets totally the glory and none to us then we will see signs, wonders and miracles.  Jesus went to the Father after taking our sins upon Himself so He had totally dealt with the sins or He could not come into the presence of the Father. On His merit then we are in the presence of the Father because we are in Jesus and He is in us.  The key is us believing in His indwelling presence in us and we being responsive to His leading.  He is the head and we are the body.  The body does not use the head, quite the contrary, the head uses the body.
