Pray for Kings
October 8, 2016
Devotions:
“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.”
1 Timothy 2:1-4 KJV
Too often if we do not like the leader of our nations we will curse them. Here Paul says that we are to bless them and pray for them. when we pray then we will have a quiet and peaceable life so that the gospel can go forth quiclly. God's desire is that all be saved and that none be lost. Our prayers are effective to maintain peace in our countries. If we do not pray then the enemy gains the upper hand and brings death, destruction and oppression. So then what happens in a country God will lay it at the feet of the church because we have the power and the mandate to change our countries. Ultimately it will not be the politicians who will be held responsible but the church.
