Devotions:

“Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the Lord: But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.” ‭Jeremiah‬ ‭31:31-34‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Yesterday we saw how God wrote His laws on our hearts and on our inner most being so that we do not walk according to the law by according to the life of God within us.  Next He says that He will be our God.  As God He is obligating Himself to protect us and provide for us.  He will keep us from trouble that it will not overtake us.  Trouble still comes our way but as we the look to our God He will intervene for us.  Then He says that we will be His people.  We have been bought with a price and we are not our own.  We have been marked for favor and for blessing just like He marked Israel for bless ing and for favor it they would receive it and walk with Him.  Israel unfortunely continuously doubted God's blessing on them and that he is the Almighty God.  They continuously treated God on the same level as the gods of the nations around them.  But God has demonstrated to us first by the sacrifice of Jesus His love for us and when we accept that sacrifice on our behalf He works in us a new nature.  He takes out our nature of rebellion and gives us a nature like His, a nature of love.  God is our God and we are His people.  We belong to the God who made heaven and earth and not to the god of this world. We are sons and daughters of the Most High God!
