Devotions:

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!”

‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭5:29‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“For I will set mine eyes upon them for good, and I will bring them again to this land: and I will build them, and not pull them down; and I will plant them, and not pluck them up. And I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the Lord: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭24:6-7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And they shall be my people, and I will be their God: And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of their children after them:”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭32:38-39‬ ‭KJV‬‬

God pinpoints the problem with humanity, our heart is wicked and we do not want to follow God and do His commandments.  We are in rebellion against God.  This is the heritage from our father Adam. In God's plan of salvation He has provided a solution.  He has provided a change of heart.  Instead of a heart of rebellion against God, He has given us a heart that wants to follow Him and do His will.  He has given us a heart to know Him not just in desire but also a door by which we can come into His presence without sin, guilt, condemnation.  That door is Jesus.  God has given us a heart that will respect and honor Him.  A heart that wants to hold onto Him with all of our might because we know that all our good, all the good that happens to us comes from Him.  The enemy will try to convince us that there are other good things in life besides God and His ways.  Such as having sex outside of marriage but that will destroy us and our partner.  As we look to our heart we will find a desire to walk with our Father in agreement with Him in our words, thoughts, actions and deeds.  We walk in this way by His power within us.
