The Word of God

Devotions:

“And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.”  Deuteronomy‬ ‭6:6-9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

God put a very great emphasis on His word. He told Israel that it was to be their constant companion.  God also knew that the word of God had to get into their spirit in order for it to do the children of Israel any good.  If it was just in their minds then they would mentally agree with it but it would not produce any faith and would then not be of benefit to them, The word of God was to dominate their life in everything that they talked about, thought, dreamed.  It was to all center around the word of God. If their life did not center around the word of God, the world would seep into their lives.  The world is dominated by the enemy because Adam gave it to him.  In order for the word of God to dominate their life they were told to put reminders of the word of God on their bodies and the walls of their house and even on the gates.

“And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live.”

‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭8:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Here we see why God insisted that the Isrealites focus on the word of God.  Because it is food for our spirits.  Even today, the word of God is food for our spirits. If we neglect the word of God in our daily lives we are hurting ourselves.  The enemy will be able to sneak into our lives undetected and destroy us. He will cause us to forget the goodness of God towards us and we will live way below the position that God has ordained for us to live in.  But we must take heed to the importance of the word of God for us and demonstrate this with our actions.
