Keep Your Focus

Devotions:

“Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written, "YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY." ‭1 Peter‬ ‭1:13-16‭ NASB

“Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.” Colossians‬ ‭3:1-4‬ ‭NASB‬‬

Peter and Paul are saying the same thing.  The way to victory, the way to walk in our salvation is to keep our focus on Jesus.  When Peter says that we are to be sober in spirit means that we are to walk by the spirit and not by our emotions.  We are to walk by the word that testifies of our salvation and in that salvation our seating with Christ in the heavenlies at the right hand of the Father in the place of all power and authority and honor.  We are to walk as wise men not being driven by the lust of our flesh but by the power of the resurrected Christ within us.  Peter says not to be conformed to the former lust.  This implies that there will be pressure from those lust to do the things that we did as sinners.  We are holy, set apart unto God the Father for a special blessing so we are to act like it and not be partakers of the lower base life of the world that brings their destruction.  Our life is hidden with Christ in God and we are to be glorified with Him so we keep looking to the prize and not allow ourselves to be detoured from our heavenly calling.  On purpose we are to walk like the redeemed and not like the world.  This takes faith which only comes from the word of God.  Keep your focus.  Refresh yourself by the Spirit daily. Remind yourself of the reality of the spirit realm and God the Father.
