God's Work of Salvation
Devotions:
God's salvation is for the whole man, not just his spirit, not just to get to heaven. God created the whole man, spirit, soul and body and in Jesus, He redeemed spirit, soul and body. Paul says that we are saved by grace through faith which is a gift of God. So our entire salvation is a work of God and His grace. We access it by faith and faith comes as we hear the word of God about what He has done.
The work of salvation in our individual lives was initiated when we received Jesus as our Savior and Lord (though we were saved in the mind of God when Jesus hung on the cross and said, "it is finished.") The work of salvation then continues throughout our lives as then God transforms our souls by His glory. In 2 Corinthians 3 Paul say that we are changed from glory to glory as we behold Him. In Titus 3 Paul says that salvation is by the washing of regeneration and the renewing of the Holy Ghost.
For this reason we cry for more hunger for God and the things of God. Psalm 107 says that God will fill the hungry and quench the thirst of the thirsty.
“In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” John 7:37-38 KJV
“And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.” Revelation 22:1, 17 KJV
As we hunger and thirst to be made whole then we will come and drink of the waters of life and be made whole. We should come and drink often of these waters.
