The Mountain

Devotions:

“They that trust in the Lord shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever. As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the Lord is round about his people from henceforth even for ever.” Psalms‬ ‭125:1-2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

How do we trust in the Lord? By believing and acting on His word.  Jesus told us in Matthew 7 that when we are doers of His word we are like the wise man who built his house on the rock that with stood the storms of life and the man who heard His word and did not do them is like the foolish man who built his house on the sand so when the storms of life came it fell.  The Psalmest likens it to being like mount Zion.  Mountains are not easily moved.  God goes on to say that the protection of those who believe and act on the word of God, is the Lord.

It is as we understand the word of God that we are able to act upon it. It is the Holy Spirit that gives us the understanding but we have to expose ourselves to the word of God.  The measure that we honor the word of God and expose ourselves to the word, read it and meditate on it, is the measure that we will receive from it.

If we do not base our life on the word of God then we will be subject to the ups and downs of circumstances and the storms of life that are sent to destroy us.  The storms come to all but the victory over the storms is dependent upon our being doers of the word of God. You cannot trust in God without being a doer of His word. The word is a revelation of who you are in Christ and what God has done for you in redemption.  As we respect the word of God and the voice of the Holy Spirit, our security is in the Lord.
