Devotions:
“The king is not saved by a mighty army; A warrior is not delivered by great strength. A horse is a false hope for victory; Nor does it deliver anyone by its great strength. Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him, On those who hope for His lovingkindness, To deliver their soul from death And to keep them alive in famine. Our soul waits for the LORD; He is our help and our shield. For our heart rejoices in Him, Because we trust in His holy name. Let Your lovingkindness, O LORD, be upon us, According as we have hoped in You.” Psalms 33:16-22 NASB
King David had plenty of experience in going to war acknowledges here that It was not by his own strength that he gained the victory but by the strength of the Lord. The natural realm is not where the battle won or lost but in the spiritual realm. David was looking to the Lord in all types of circumstances and saw the delivering hand of the Lord everywhere he turned.
When our souls wait for the Lord as did David's soul the we will see God consistently move on our behalf. God's eye was on David under the Old Covenant how much more is God watching us to keep and protect us from the enemy. Do on ever think that God has forsaken you, He never will. His promise is to be with us forever. We cannot be delivered by our natural strength from any of our enemies including sin. As we look to God and rejoice in Him because we know that He will keep His promises of love to us. His lovingkindness is upon us and we are secure in His Holy Name. In everything look to and trust in the Lord with an air of expectation that God will fulfill His word to you.
