Devotions:

“When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The Lord hath done great things for them. The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.”  ‭Psalms‬ ‭126:1-3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Here the psalmist is talking about being set free from the captivity to Babylon.  They had been allowed to be taken captive because of their sin against God.  They learned their less on about sin and when they were set free they felt like they were in a dream world it was so good. Their hearts were happy and laughing and they were singing and proclaiming the great works of the Lord.

We have been set free from a much greater captivity which they never experienced.  If we really believed in our liberation we would be walking in a dream world.  Our rejoicing would be over whelming and a song would be constantly on our lips.  Many times when people are first saved this is their reaction but as time goes on the remembrance wanes.  We must continually renew our deliverance from sin and our new life with God.  As we choose to meditate on what God has done and rehearse it through the communion we should continually rejoice lest what Christ did for us becomes a distant memory.
