Victory In Jesus
Devotion:
When Jesus defeated Satan on the cross what happened? Was it a wrestling match or a boxing match? How did Jesus defeat Satan to set us free? Our bondage to Satan was due to our sin and sin nature. Jesus' victory on the cross was by Him being totally obedient to the Father and taking the totality of our sins upon Himself and suffering the full punishment for those sins. Jesus' fight was to stay in total submission to the Father.
Satan's hold over the human race was a legal hold. He took our sins to the court of heaven and used it to get a legal judgement agains us that God had to fulfill because He is just, unless someone would call for mercy. When Jesus died on the cross the price was paid in full for our sins and by the blood of Jesus we are declared acquitted and innocent. Satan tries to convince us that we are guilty, which we are but the full price has been paid and we are in Jesus, the innocent one.
We can open the door to Satan by meditating on his work and by practicing sin. But if we will turn back to God we can be set free from the enemies harassment. Even when we sin we are still forgiven buythe blood of Jesus.
“In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;” Ephesians 1:7 KJV
“In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:” Colossians 1:14 KJV
“And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;” Colossians 2:13 KJV
