Grace and Faith
Devotions:
Some think that grace is, you are in a pit, God puts down a ladder. Our part is to climb out, and this is faith. God did His part, so you do yours. This is not grace but law. It is totally wrong and the way many people view grace. But grace is, you are in a pit sinking in the slime. God lets down a ladder. Jesus climbs down, pulls you out of the slime, straps you onto His back and climbs out with you on His back. Our faith is believing in God's love and trusting in His salvation to the extent that we stay on Jesus back and do not try to climb the ladder ourselves while we are strapped to Jesus' back.
It is not our work but trusting in the completed work of Christ and His live in us.
“For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.” Romans 5:10 KJV
We are saved by His life in us not by our works or effort. We are not capable of climbing out of our pit because we are too weak. Grace is then not just the ladder put into the pit but Jesus carrying us out into the presence of the Father with Jesus' standing with the Father given to us on the merits of Jesus obedience, not ours. God's life working in us then produces the fruit and the obedience in us.
