Honor God
November 27, 2017
Devotions:
Our salvation is by Grace through the faith, a gift from God. We can do things that affect. our reception of that grace. For example if we do not honor God we hinder our ability to receive of His grace. It is not God that is withholding because His provision is ever held out to us. In not honoring God we are demonstrating doubt. We are saying that God is not really God and He has not really done all that He said that He would do. So when we come with a need for healing or finances or some other need, even though the need was met at cross we have told our heart that God is not really that important. We put our hearts into a state of confusion because on the one hand, by our dishonor we are saying that God is not really that important or significant to us but then on the other hand we are crying out for a miracle because all of our other resources have failed. We must choose to honor God daily because the little things impact the large things. We honor God by treating Him as the God of the universe, the Almighty God. We reverence His word by spending time feeding on it daily. We show honor to God by spending time with Him and following the leading of His Spirit in our lives above all else. We even seek the leading of the Holy Spirit in all things. We show honor by coming to church early in expectation of encountering His presence that will transform us. When we honor Him then our hearts are open to receive what He has freely given.
“Wherefore the Lord God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the Lord saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.”
1 Samuel 2:30 KJV
