Jesus Our Covenant

Devotions:
“I the Lord have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;”
Isaiah 42:6 KJV
“Thus saith the Lord, In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee: and I will preserve thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages;”
Isaiah 49:8 KJV
These are two Messianic prophecies about Jesus. He is refered here by God as being made a covenant of the people. In reality Jesus became our covenant with the Father. He was our representative, the high priest offering the sacrifice and and the sacrifice. He became the everlasting covenant between God and man. Our salvation does not rest on our ability to be right but on Jesus first as the sacrificial lamb who had to be perfect in total obedience to the Father and second. Is that righteous life imputed to us when we receive His sacrifice on our behalf. His blood is ever before the throne of the Father changing the judgement seat into a mercy seat declaring that we are innocent because the perfect sacrifice took our place.
Upon receiving Jesus, God gives us a heart to follow Him. He removes the heart of rebellion and gives us the heart of Jesus. He also gives us His righteousness that we can boldly come into His presence without fear of judgement or condemnation or failure. This is the door for the transformation of our minds, spending dime with Him.
