Pleading the Blood

Devotions:

“God takes His stand in His own congregation; He judges in the midst of the rulers.

Arise, O God, judge the earth! For it is You who possesses all the nations.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭82:1, 8‬ ‭NASB‬‬

One understanding of Heaven is that it is a legal system like a court.  We have been weighed in the balance and found wanting and in violation of the law.  The Old Testament saints had their sins pardoned based on the mercy of God looking forward to the cross.  They were never sure that their sins were forgiven until the sacrifice was accepted on the the day of atonement every year.

In the New Testament our sins were totally taken on the body of Jesus and totally forgiven.  The hold that Satan had on the human race was the sin that Adam committed in the garden. This gave Satan the right to take Adam and the whole human race to court and get a judgement against us.  But under the New Covenant, Satan no longer has that hold on us because of the blood of Jesus.  The blood of Jesus sprinkled before the throne of the Father is total, full and final payment for all of our sins. To plead the blood of Jesus is standing in the favorable judgement that was granted to us that declared us innocent.  Jesus took all of our guilt.  Satan no longer has any power over us or our property.  We must enforce this in our lives and not allow Satan to come and steal from us or put sickness on us or destroy us or our work. So pleading the blood of Jesus is not some magical formula but it is appealing to a judgement already passed that says that we are not guilty. The emery has no legal right to touch us or put a curse on us.  We stand in the blessings of God.
