Forgiveness Produces Awe

Devotions:
“But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.”
Psalms 130:4 KJV
The word fear in the scriptures can have two different meanings and the only way to tell the difference is by the context. Here to fear God meaning to be afraid of bringing about His displeasure and wrath does not fit. The Psalmist talks about forgiveness being the root of this fear. Fear here means to honor, esteem greatly and to reverence. When we partake of God's forgiveness in our lives it brings about a reverence, honor and respect on our parts.
Whenever we come to Him with a confession of sin we come receiving forgiveness. Forgiveness for the New Covenant Saint occurred when Jesus hung on the cross. Our acknowledging the sin is to help ur to get set free from the sin. We have already been forgiven.
“In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;” Ephesians 1:7 KJV
“In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:”
Colossians 1:14 KJV
In Christ Jesus, we are forgiven already. When we accept this it will produce in us a reverential awe about God. This is a major tenet of Grace, the whole world is forgiven and when we receive Jesus as Lord and Savior, that forgiveness becomes ours.
