The Plumb Line

“And the Lord said to me, "Amos, what do you see?" And I said, "A plumb line." Then the Lord said, "Behold, I am setting a plumb line in the midst of my people Israel; I will never again pass by them;”

        A plumb line is the line of accuracy and truth that everything else is lined up with.  Jesus is that plumb line that God the Father is using to line us up with. In Genesis 1:26 God said that they would make man in their image. In Romans 8 Paul tells us that we have been predestinated to be conformed to the image of Christ.  We do not conform ourselves, this is the work of God.  We are conformed by His word and by being in His presence but the end product will look just like Jesus.  When we were born again and received eternal life, we received God's life, nature and character.  That seed of the word then grows by the power of the Holy Spirit into a full man in the image of Jesus.  When we realize this and start cooperating with God by doing the works of Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit then God will move through us even as He did through Jesus. 

            When you act contrary to love, the God kind of love, you act contrary to who you are and it opens the door to confusion in you.  This is from your old nature.  When you realize that you are a new creation in Chirst then you begin to act like Jesus by walking in love, a love that is not in your own strength,  but in the strength of the Spirit within your recreated human spirit. 

        Hebrews 12: 2 "...Looking unto Jesus..." We are to keep our eyes on the plumb line and not on where we are now.  Jesus, that is who I am like!
