God's Presence Gives Us Rest
Devotions:
“And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest. And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence. For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth. And the Lord said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.”
Exodus 33:14-17 KJV
God's answer to Moses' request to show him His glory was that God would go with them. God's presence would give them rest. They would no longer be striving to be accepted by God. They would no longer be afraid of their enemies. God, the God of the universe would be with them. Moses insisted that God's presence be with them. God's presence separated Israel from all of the other peoples of the earth. Everyone else worshipped false gods that were demons. Demons cannot bless, they only can curse you. But God is a God of blessing. If as Christians we are trying to look like the world then we are trying to look like the thing that is a curse. The whole world lies in the power of the evil one. We are blessed to be separated from the ways of the world. The world has nothing good to offer us. We must live in the world but we are not to be like the world.
God knew Moses by name. God knows you by name if you are His child. But if you are not aware of that you will walk around with an orphan spirit and be fearful to receive the blessings of God. God's presence is with us to never leave us or forsake us.
“Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
Matthew 28:20 KJV
“Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.”
Hebrews 13:5-6 KJV
