God, No Respecter of Persons
Devotions:
“Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:”
Acts 10:34 KJV
Here Peter is telling the gentile, Cornelius that what the Jews had been taught was invalid. They were taught that they were God's chosen people, which they were but they were chosen for a purpose, to bring forth the Messiah and they were not exclusively chosen. Anyone that would follow the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, God would accept. For example look at Rahab and Ruth. They were not only accepted by God but were included in the bloodline of the Messiah. So Peter is saying that the Messiah was not only for the Jews but also for the Gentiles. That is the covenant of blessing that Israel walked under was now available for the Gentiles. In fact we have a better covenant based on better promises than the Old Covenant. We are together with the Israelites in this covenant of blessing. In it is healing for the body and sou, prosperity, protection, favor and eternal life.
When we hear of one believer getting a blessing we should know that God is no respecter of persons, what He has done for others He will do for us. If we do not see results we need to look to ask God and see what we need to change because God does not change and to get results something needs to change.
God's word is true all the time.
