God's Dwelling Place

“How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord of hosts!” Psalms‬ ‭84:1‬ ‭ESV‬‬

The God of creation who created the universe and all its splendor and all its glory and beauty has made a dwelling place for Himself.  When He gave Moses the plans for the tabernacle it was a glorious tent.  When God gave David the plans for the temple that his son Solomon would build it was extravagant, glorious and beautiful beyond description.  And yet it is nothing compared to His permanent dwelling place.  Heaven is so beautiful that there are no words to describe its beauty, Paul says that the description is beyond what humanly words can utter.  Yet that is not His dwelling place.  We, the body of Christ are His dwelling place and He has created us by the new birth to far surpass what Solomon could build even with all of his earthly wisdom and resources.  We are His temple individually and collectively.  We need both of these relationships. A personal, individual relationship with God and our collective relationship with the people of God.  We will not agree theologically with our brothers and sisters but we can walk in unity with each other.  Walking in our relationship with our Father, John 17:3, is also walking in a love relationship with each other.  As much as possible we need to gather together to worship Him and be His temple.

Do not speak critically of God's temple about yourself or others.  You are God's creation as is the rest of the body of Christ.
