Finished work

Devotions:

What God wants from us is to believe in His finished work in Jesus.  We are to walk in the rest and peace that all that is necessary for our salvation is completed in the work of Jesus in His passion and crucifixion.  This is testified to in the resurrection of Jesus from the dead.  We cannot add to this nor take away from the work of Jesus. All of our works come out of this fact of the completed work of Jesus.  Our empowering comes because His was victorious and returned to the Father to be glorified. When Jesus was glorified the believers who had received His work were also glorified in that they received the fullness of the Spirit on the day of Pentecost.  So our salvation does not depend on our works but on Jesus' work and our works are a result of our salvation.  When we sin as believers our salvation does not changed because our salvation is eternal.

“He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.” ‭1 John‬ ‭3:8-9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jesus destroyed the works of the devil by taking the full punishment for our sins on Himself and then giving us His righteous, holy life which is totally consistent with the Father.  Our souls need to be transformed which is also a work of God as we spend time in His presence and He reveals His word to us.  Our bodies we have to keep under because its redemption is not until Jesus returns.  Jesus has given us authority over our flesh to displine it and not be ruled by it.

What is born of God then is our spirit, made like unto Him, eternal.  We then focus on the real me, my spirit and the righteousness and hotliness that Jesus has imparted to me.
