Sin Not Imputed

“Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭4:6-8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We are those who God has imputed righteousness without works. God does not impute sin to us.  If you look at the life of Abraham, the father of the faith, you will not find where God rebuked him for sin.

In Genesis 12 Abram, Abraham. lied to Pharaoh about Sarai, Sarah, his wife.  God's plague came upon Pharaoh and his household not Abram. Again in Genesis 20 Abraham lied to king Abimelech about Sarah again and God threatened Abimelech not Abraham.  We have no record of God dealing with Abraham in judgement, only in blessing.

Is this a license to sin? No! Abraham was not perfect and neither are we but what God is looking for is for us to walk with Him like Abraham did.  We have a closer walk because we have been born righteous in the new birth.  Our sins and iniquities are under the blood of Jesus so we should not focus on them but focus on Jesus and our walk with the Father.  God gave us a heart that wants to obey Him, this they did not have in the Old Covenant.  God did not change their heart.  He has given us His heart and His life by His Spirit recreating us and making us His temple.  We are blessed because the Lord does not impute sin to us but righteousness.
