Put On Christ

Devotions:

“But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof." ‭‭Romans‬ ‭13:14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:22-24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.” ‭1 John‬ ‭4:17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

In the new birth we were made just like Jesus.  We received of His life and nature.  They were imparted when we accepted His substitutionary death for us and proclaim Him as Lord thus breaking the lordship of Satan over us.

To put on the Lord Jesus Christ is to change your thinking from a poor, rejected, miserable sinner to a son of God. We are sons of God because we are in the Son of God, Jesus and He is in us.  We need to take a serious look at how we act and see if it is affirming who we are in Christ or denying who we are in Christ.  We fail and sin because we do not understand our identity in Christ made possible by the love of the Father.

To make provision for the flesh is to try to save ourselves as well as to compromise with our flesh where moral sin is concerned.  We are not to allow the door to compromise to be open even a crack and we are not to allow any of the works of the flesh in trying to be pleasing to God. We are pleasing to God because we are in Christ Jesus and our works are a manifestation of that reality being embraced in our lives. Our works do not make us pleasing to God but because we are pleasing to God and we know it.
