Devotions:
“Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.” Philippians 2:3-4 NASB
“Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.” Philippians 4:8 NASB
In our church we want to cultivate a personal touch where we demonstrate a true concern for our members and for those who visit us. In Phillipians 2, Paul Talks about the attitude that we need to maintain for this to happen, an attitude of seeing others as more important than our selves. He goes on in that chapter to give Jesus as our example.Jesus did this because He saw Himself as the manifestation of the Father. He was not imitating the Father but He was totally yielded to the Father as a man . The Father, by the Holy Spirit, was the animating factor in Jesus. God is not concerned for His own interest but for our interest.
A part of that is what you allow your mind to dwell upon. In Philippians 4 Paul tells us what we are too think upon. What we think upon will determine what our attitude will be and what we will act upon. By the power of the greater one in us discipline yourself to think on only what is good, right, honorable, pure, lovely of a good reputation, anything of excellence and worthy of praise. Not just think on them but dwell on them for yourself and others.
