To Know God

Devotions:
“Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord.” Jeremiah 9:23-24 KJV
No matter how successful we are in the natural realm, it is of no consequence if it is all our own doing. What has eternal value is that we know the Lord. This was written to people in the Old Covenant when knowing the Lord was limited because of sin. They could know Him from a distance. We in the New Covenant have had our sins removed by the blood of Jesus and we have the presence of God dwelling within us. The call still goes out that we are to seek to understand and know the Lord intimately. Because we have been made His righteousness we can boldly enter into His presence to fellowship with Him and get to know Him intimately. We have access to His word and are taught by the Holy Spirit our teacher when we seek His guidance. The written word is to reveal the Living word, the Lord Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit is to reveale Jesus also to us. The more we know Him, the more we will know about Him. When we seek to know about Him without knowing Him we end up with dead theology.
“"So let us know, let us press on to know the LORD. His going forth is as certain as the dawn; And He will come to us like the rain, Like the spring rain watering the earth."”
Hosea 6:3 NASB
