Acting Like Jesus
Devotions:
“And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.”
Matthew 8:7-10 KJV
This centurion knew about authority and he observed Jesus operating in authority. Jesus was under the authority of the Father and had authority over all the earth. He commanded sickness and disease to depart from people and it departed. He commanded the storm that threatened to destroy Him and his disciples to be still and the sea became supernaturally calm. He commanded demons to leave and they left people, even people who were not in the immediate vicinity, See the Syrophonecian woman in Matthew 15: 22f.
Jesus exercised His authority, backed up by heaven through words. We have the authority that Jesus has to command sickness and disease to go and it will go. We command
demons to flee and they have no choice but to go. We even command the weather when it is opposing our assignment from God and is trying to destroy us and it must stop. Jesus used His authority to multiply food to feed hungry crowd and it obeyed. We exercise our authority in Jesus name, using His authority. This is how we do the works of Jesus, under the authority of the Father.
