Draw Close to God

Devotions:

“Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” ‭‭James‬ ‭1:13-15‬ ‭KJV

The battlefield is in our mind and with our fleshly desires. Our temptations come from our own desires. We must take authority over our ungodly desires using the word of God.  The word of God tells us of His great love for us and who He has made us in Christ. We are incomplete without God in our lives. God fulfills us if we will walk with Him. His word tells us all about His love for us, His acceptance of us and His unconditional forgiveness of all our sins so that we are free accepted in the beloved.  Aw s we meditate on these things from the word they become real to our heart and drive out the lies of the devil.

We are tempted because we are looking for something or someone else to fulfill us. Satan tells us that there is other things that will fulfill us or that God has rejected us and really does not love us.  It is not good enough to have knowledge about God's love but not experience it, We must make a habit of spending time fellowshipping with God every day. Our biggest opponent to experiencing God is our flesh.  When we start to spend time with Him there seems like nothing is happening.  But we act in faith.

“Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.” ‭James‬ ‭4:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

As we draw close to God in faith not doubting that what James says is true that as we draw close to God, putting aside everything that would come between us and God, trying to take His place in our lives, He will draw close to us.  We need that time of intimate fellowship with Him daily.  This fellowship must be defined by the word of Go but it is not a cold, sterile, one sided relationship. The more we treasure the Lord by treasuring His word and treasuring our fellowship with Him the more our intimacy will develop with Him.

“But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭22:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬
