Freedom From Sin or Devestation

March 3, 2018

Devotions:

Sin is a very serious matter. It is what sent Jesus to the cross. Sin had separate man from the blessings of God. Habakkuk was was declaring the result of sin that had separated Israel from their God and His blessings and declared his faith that he would praise God anyway.

“Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.” ‭‭Habakkuk‬ ‭3:17-18‬ ‭KJV

We have been forgiven by the blood of Jesus. Sin still will wreck havoc in our lives. When we walk in sin it opens the door for the devil to come and steal our blessings.  Our sin originates in our doubt of our Father's love for us so we depend upon ourselves to fill the void that only God can fill.  When we realize this and turn back to God, He will redeem what Satan has stolen through sin.  Jesus died to set us free from sin. We must walk in faith in His liberation. We must take our freedom by believing God's word.

“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

‭‭John‬ ‭8:31-32‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Our freedom comes from not from our will and trying harder but from believing the word of God.  We need to meditate on the word until it becomes an integral part of our thinking. Then we resist by speaking the word of freedom that Jesus has accomplished.

“Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:”

‭‭Colossians‬ ‭1:12-13‬ ‭KJV‬‬
