“For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.” Zechariah 3:9 KJV
This is a prophecy about the coming of the Savior and the work of salvation. All of our iniquity was removed and forgiven in one day, the day that Jesus hung on the cross for us.
“To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.”
2 Corinthians 5:19 KJV
“And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world." 1 John 2:2 KJV
Sin is no longer an issue with God because He totally dealt with it in Jesus. The issue is what do you do with Jesus. Our sanctification is to be totally dependent upon Jesus because He is our holiness. Jesus' likeness is in us totally set from sin, but we still sin. This is dealt with experientially when we believe what Jesus did for us on the cross and as a result what He did to us in the new birth. The more that we believe who we are that God has made us, the more we will act like it.
Our sins were removed in one day and that became a reality to us the moment we rec ited Jesus.
