Strong In The Lord

Devotions:

“Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.”

‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭2:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.”

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6:10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

In neither of these scriptures does Paul says to be strong in your own strength. No matter how strong you are physically or in your will or emotions, you are no match for the devil. Paul says to be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. That grace is His eternal life that He gave us. The is eternal life is what defeated Satan and made an open show of him as a defeated foe. When we turn to our own abilities to come against our foe, we will fail and God wants us to succeed.

To be strong in the Lord is to look to His word and the promises in His word and act like those promises are real and for me today. That means that we must get His word down inside of us and test it out to see how it will work in our lives. We do not wait until we have a situation that is life or death. A soldier does not wait until he goes into battle to first try out his weapons. He would not be effective and might get killed. He takes time learning them and proving them to know how to use them accurately. Even so with the word of God. We must leant how to work it in small things so we know what we are doing in the big things.
