God’s Joy

Devotions :
“Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”
Nehemiah 8:10 KJV
Here it says that the joy of the Lord is our strength. It does not say that our joy is our strength, not does it say that our rejoicing in the Lord is our strength but the joy of the Lord. What is the joy of the Lord?
“The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.”
Zephaniah 3:17 KJV
Here the prophet says that the Lord rejoices over us. Actually the Hebrew indicated that God dances a jig of joy over us. He sings and dances over our existence. Here it is talking about God’s covenant people, the Jews. We have a better covenant based on better promises. How much more is God throwing a party over us and rejoicing. God loves us so much that His joy just bubbles up out of Him. He is not sad or angry over us but He rejoices over us. This is our strength, that our Father God loves us so much that we the joy of His heart.
Because God rejoices over us, we then rejoice over Him and in Him.
