“But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Romans 10:8-10 KJV
Salvation is not just being born again. Being born again is the beginning and in the new birth is the fullness of our salvation in seed form. After we receive Jesus as Savior and Lord and are born again we then must work out our salvation. Paul tells here in Romans the way that we are to proceed. We must first believe in our hearts and then confess with our mouth what we have believed in our hearts. For instance when we are born again many times there is a lingering sense of unworthiness, guilt and shame. But the word of God says that if any man or woman is in Christ they are new creations, old things have passed away and behold all things have become new. Also that we have been made the righteousness of God in Christ, 2 Corinthians 5: 17,21. So we meditate on this word and start confessing it. When contrary thoughts come contradicting this word, cast those thoughts down and confess your new creation and righteousness. As we believe and confess then what we are confessing will begin dominate our souls and our lives.
This works in every area that the word reveals the provision that we have in Christ, healing, deliverance from sin, deliverance from demonic oppression, provision….believe in your heart and confess with your mouth.
