We Can Do Nothing Without Christ

Devotions:

“I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” ‭John‬ ‭15:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Very few believe what Jesus said here, “without Me you can do nothing.” We may give lip service to it but if we are not acting in the reality of it, we do not really believe it. How do we act like we believe it?  By spending time in His presence purposely, not to get something from Him but to find out what His itinerary is for us this day. Our desire is to always do the things which please our Father. Our being is pleasing to our Father because we are in Christ Jesus but our actions are not always in accord with who God has made us in Christ.  If we set out to do our own will even if it seems that it will be pleasing to God but we have not heard from God to do it we are creating an Ishmael (Abraham’s son that was produced when Abraham tried to fulfill God’s will by the flesh).

Our mode of operation should be to find out what God whats to do and do that.

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: Fear the LORD, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, And marrow to thy bones.” Proverbs‬ ‭3:5-8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

There is no other formula for success that works. It starts by getting rid of the man of sin and receiving a new nature by receiving what Christ did for us. It is not just receiving Christ but continually being vitally united with Him daily.
