Devotions:
“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,”
Ephesians 1:18 NASB1995
“And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual men, but as to men of flesh, as to infants in Christ. I gave you milk to drink, not solid food; for you were not yet able to receive it. Indeed, even now you are not yet able, for you are still fleshly. For since there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not fleshly, and are you not walking like mere men?”
1 Corinthians 3:1-3 NASB1995
Because the people at Corinth had not fed on the milk of the word of God so that they would grow up spiritually, Paul reprimanded them for still being babes. To understand the word of God is to be a doer of the word of God. If we feed on the word of God and are not doers of the word of God, James says that we are like the person who looks in the mirror and walks away forgetting who we are.
Paul says here that the Corinthians were babies and were fleshly walking about like mere men. That is they did not know the hope of God’s calling nor the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints. We are to walk in the kingdom of God as god men, as manifestations of the Father to a world that does not know God. This can only happen as we know God and walk in His word so that we grow thereby. Take time daily to feed on His word in order to see how to do all that is written there. In the New Covenant this is to discover who God has made us in Christ and that we are in Christ.
