The Joy Of The Lord

Devotions:

Much of our lives are controlled by what we believe that God thinks about us. We believe that God is against us and is angry with us because we continually fail and do wrong things. But God thinks about us as He thinks about Jesus because we are in Jesus and He is in us.

“The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.” ‭Zephaniah‬ ‭3:17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“The Lord your God is in the midst of you, a Mighty One, a Savior [Who saves]! He will rejoice over you with joy; He will rest [in silent satisfaction] and in His love He will be silent and make no mention [of past sins, or even recall them]; He will exult over you with singing.”

‭‭Zephaniah‬ ‭3:17‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

We see from this scripture that God actually takes joy in us. One translator puts it this way, the Lord dances a jig for joy over you. This is talking about Old Testament saints. We living in the New Covenant have a better covenant based on better promises, Hebrews 8:6. Old Testament saints were servants, still in their sins. We New Testament saints have have all of our sins removed and we are now the sons of God,

Say that out loud, “The Lord my God rejoices over me and even dances a jig for joy over me right now, even though I have not walk-in perfectly. What is the outcome of our believing this?

“Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.” ‭Nehemiah‬ ‭8:10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We derive strength knowing how much our God rejoices over us. It is His joy that is our strength not our joy. As we know and understand how much God takes joy in us it will produce joy in us.
