Pure In Heart

Devotions:

“Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“With the pure You will show Yourself pure, and with the perverse You will show Yourself contrary.” ‭Psalm‬ ‭18:26‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

As we are ourselves is how we see God. If we are liars or cheats then we think that God is that way. How we think that God treats us is how we treat others. If we think that is harsh, cruel and austere, unapproachable, then we will treat others that way.

When we see God as not only holy and righteous but also tender hearted, full of compassion and mercy then that is how we treat others.

When our heart if focused totally on God and walking with Him and not our own endeavors then we will see or understand God.

“He made known his ways unto Moses, His acts unto the children of Israel.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭103:7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Unless we have a pure heart, we only see the outward manifestations of what God does but we do not understand His reason or purpose in doing it. The Israelites spent their time under Moses griping and complaining. They were only concerned about themselves and their comfort and not about God and His great plan for them. They never understood how much God really loved them. Because their heart was upon themselves they could not see God. Their heart was not pure but contaminated with their own selfish thoughts. They did not know how to walk in love so they could not see love. God gave them the Ten Commandments to show them how to love. But even then they saw it as a way to earn God’s favor instead of a way to live God’s life. When your heart is free from all selfishness, then you will see and understand God.
