Hungering For God

Devotions:

“O God, thou art My God; early will I seek thee: My soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee In a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; To see thy power and thy glory, So as I have seen thee in the sanctuary. Because thy lovingkindness Is better than life, My lips shall praise thee. Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; And my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:” ‭Psalm‬ ‭63:1-5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

David had a hunger and thirst for God. He described this hunger and thirst for God as if he had not had anything to drink for days and he was in the desert. He was seeking for the intimacy with God that only comes from a thirsty soul. As he called out to God in this hunger and thirst he talks about seeing the power of God demonstrated. David first saw this in the prayer closet and then in the natural realm. If we do not see it in the prayer closet we will not see it through us in the natural realm. To see the glory of God we must first see it in the prayer closet as we are desperate to be with God.

The presence of God creates praise and thanksgiving towards HIm. As we then raise our hands and worship Him, there comes as satisfaction to our souls that we can get no where else. God is pleased with us and we are to be pleased with Him. As we walk in His presence our hearts are over joyed and our mouth is filled with praise.

Our confession is that we hunger and thirst for more of God. Confess this often and your sensitivity to God will increase until you are like David. Then you will see God in His glory.
