The Law Fulflled

Devotions:

“Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.” ‭Matthew‬ ‭5:17-18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jesus perfectly and totally fulfilled the law even to the smallest part. He fulfilled the full intentions and implications of the law. Jesus was perfectly accepted by the Father because He walked in perfect righteousness.

“And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon. And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon. And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.” ‭Revelation‬ ‭5:3-5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jesus is seen here as a man who is worthy to open the book of God’s judgements because He perfectly fulfilled the law. He did it all for us and our redemption. Not only did He perfectly fulfill the law but when He rose from the dead we rose with Him and now He lives to fulfill the law through us. His perfection is our perfection. He lives His life through the believer in the perfection that pleases the Father. Our salvation is not dependent upon us but upon Jesus’ finished work, for us, in us and through us.

We did not have the power to fulfill the law, so Jesus did it for us as our representative before the Father. He took our failure and sin and gave us His perfection. We cannot mar our born again spirit where His perfection resides. We either walk in His perfection in us or we walk in the weakness and inadequacy of our flesh. The more that we know the Christ in us the more we will walk in His perfections.
