A City set Upon A Hill

Devotions:

          “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:14-16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

          Jesus said that those who knew God carried and reflected the light of His love. They were to be the ensigns to the world of the reality of God and His love for them.  They were to show forth and display God’s love, goodness and glory to a world that was blinded to His reality. They were to be God’s masterpiece. 

      In the New Covenant we not only experience God’s love and goodness but we have His life within us. His life is His nature and character of love. 

        “In him was life; and the life was the light of men.”

          Jesus demonstrated the goodness of God everywhere He went. He performed miracles and healings to demonstrate the love of the Father. We are to do the same. We are to experience God’s love and provision for us and then tell the world and demonstrate God’s love to a world that is estranged from Him. We are to be that city set on a hill, a lamp put on a lamp stand for all to see. We are to be heralds of His love and goodness. We have His life within us. We need just to let that light shine through us as we learn to walk in H
