Salt

Devotions:
“Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.” Matthew 5:13 KJV
Jesus was telling those who heard the word of God the salt of the earth. Salt retards decay and our presence here on the earth is to retard the decay caused by sin. If we compromise with the world system then we are good for nothing because instead of retarding the decay we are part of it.
“Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” Amos 3:3 KJV
“The LORD shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in his ways. And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee.” Deuteronomy 28:9-10 KJV
The more that we walk with God, the more we walk contrary to the world. Satan makes the world monochrome, and bland. As the salt of the earth we add flavor and spice to life. When we act like the world we become foul tasting and putrid.
The Jews that Jesus was talking to, only had the word of God to try to follow in their own strength. We have the life of God in us to guide us in His ways. As we walk in the life of God, people recognize that we belong to God and that God is with us. We then are God’s agent on the earth.
