Religion Or Relationship

Devotions:

“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” John‬ ‭17:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

If we have religion then we are always trying to do those things to get God’s favor. We are not walking in relationship but we are hoping to be pleasing to God. We never grow in our Christianity and we never mature in the love of God. We are always looking for someone to pray for us for healing or some other need because we do no feel that we have enough faith to receive from God. We work and work hoping that God will bless us and then wonder why He does not hear us.

We are not called to a religion but a relationship with God. We hunger and thirst for the presence of God. This starts out as a walk of faith. We must know that we are in Christ Jesus and because we are in Christ Jesus we are pleasing to God. We must be secure in the finished work of Jesus and in our righteous standing before God that does not change. We are loved by God. He loves us as much as He loves Jesus.

“I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.”

‭‭John‬ ‭17:23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We are to grow in the love of God and this comes as we fellowship in His presence. It is His love us that brings us into maturity in Him. Our love is a product of our understanding of His love for us.
