The Works Of The Devil Destroyed

Devotions:

          “He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.” 1 John‬ ‭3:8‬ ‭KJV‬

“But the one who indulges in a sinful life is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God was revealed was to undo and destroy the works of the devil.” ‭1 John‬ ‭3:8‬ ‭TPT‬‬

John is contrasting what is of God and what is not of God. If we indulge in sin, if we make sin a practice then we are operating from the devil’s territory. When we become a child of God, our spirit is born again with His life and His nature. We become the righteousness of God in Christ. But our souls are not changed, and our bodies are not changed. The works of the devil were put to nought by Jesus and the way for us to walk with God was opened. But in our souls, our mind, our will and our emotions were still programmed with the devil’s lies. Our body still agreed with our souls that were incorrectly programmed. So we need to reprogram our minds to think like God thinks, to speak like God speak, and to act like God acts.

Because the work of the devil has been destroyed in our spirits, we are not longer in bondage to the work of the enemy. We just do not know it. That is why we meditate on God’s word to renew our mind , our will and our emotions to God’s love for us.

As we renew our mind then our transformed soul will agree with our born again spirit and keep our bodies under its subjection. So we will not longer be doing the works of the devil but we will be walking in the freedom of Jesus as sons of God. Satan has no hold on you except he deceives you into thinking that he has and you yielding to that trap.
