Be Doers Of The Word
September 5, 2022
Devotions:
“For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; And seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: For this people's heart is waxed gross, And their ears are dull of hearing, And their eyes they have closed; Lest at any time they should see with their eyes, And hear with their ears, And should understand with their heart, And should be converted, and I should heal them.” Matthew 13:12-15 KJV
“For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: for he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.” James 1:23-25 KJV
Whosoever has is referring to hearing and acting correspondingly. If you do not act on the word that you hear you deceive yourself or as Jesus says your ears become dull of hearing and your eyes dull to see the things of the kingdom. Satan accommodates us by blinding us to the reality of the word of God so we do not receive God’s blessings. God desires us to hear, see and understand His word and receive His blessings. As we focus on the word and spend time meditating on His word we will receive the blessings that God has hidden in His word for us. The attention and significance that we give to His word determines how much we receive from His word.
