God's View of You
October 5, 2016
Devotions:
It is of utmost importance to know what we think that God thinks of us. What is His attitude towards us. Is He angry because of our sins? Is He looking for any opportunity to condemn us because our works do not meet His standards? Is God looking for an opportunity to put us away like He did with Israel? Or is He just indifferent towards us? He really does not care about us? He just tolerates us! When He sees us trapped in the bondage of sin, is He ever ready to scold us and let us taste some judgement so we will not sin again.
None of the above senarios are correct. God created us in His image via Adam and Eve and He loves us with an everlasting love.
“The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17 KJV
“The Lord your God is in the midst of you, a Mighty One, a Savior [Who saves]! He will rejoice over you with joy; He will rest [in silent satisfaction] and in His love He will be silent and make no mention [of past sins, or even recall them]; He will exult over you with singing.”
Zephaniah 3:17 AMPC
Where it says that, "He will rejoice over you with joy;" The Hebrew language says that, He will dance a jig of joy over you." God rejoices over you and delights in you. God hates the sin that binds you and would destroy you. God has cut a covenant with the Lord Jesus on our behalf. God's desire is that we enter that covenant through the new birth. The verse from Zephaniah is for God's covenant people, Isreal. We have an better covenant based on better promises. How much more does God rejoice in us and want the best for us. All of His anger over sin was poured out on Jesus. And by the power of the Spirit of resurrection within us He sets us free from the sin when we look to Him. In His mind we are totally set free. He wants us to come into agreement with His view of us. Our hearts cry out for His love and He freely lavishes it upon us when we receive it by faith. God delights in you!! No matter what you have done. He may not like your actions because they destroy you. Nevertheless He loves you with an everlasting love.
