Freedom

Devotions:
“So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, "If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free." They answered Him, "We are Abraham's descendants and have never yet been enslaved to anyone; how is it that You say, 'You will become free'?" Jesus answered them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son does remain forever. So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.”
John 8:31-36 NASB
What is the truth that Jesus is talking about here that sets us free? Jesus tells us that when we sin we become a slave to that sin, but when we know the truth, the sin no longer has power over us. The truth is first that all of our sins have been forgiven in Christ Jesus. The slate has been wiped clean. Our sin is what Satan would take to the court of heaven and get a damning judgement against us and God being just had to act on the verdict unless someone called out for mercy. The problem today is that we are unaware that the price has been fully paid for all of our sins.
Secondly when we received what Jesus did for us, He gives us resurrection life, eternal life which is His life and nature. He takes our the nature of the sinner and puts in us the nature of God.
So many are set free and healed when they have a vision of Jesus on the cross, dying for them. If we will take the time to meditate on the passion of Jesus until we know Jesus is saying, I did all of this for you. Then we will begin to knot the truth and be set free. When we search for it as we would for gold and riches, it will then be ours.
