Righteousness and Peace

Devotions:

“To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭7:2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness be a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted for a forest. Then judgment shall dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness remain in the fruitful field. And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever. And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places;” Isaiah‬ ‭32:15-18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“"Instead of bronze I will bring gold, And instead of iron I will bring silver, And instead of wood, bronze, And instead of stones, iron. And I will make peace your administrators And righteousness your overseers.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭60:17‬ ‭NASB‬‬

Peace and righteousness are eternally connected. Peace means wholeness, nothing lacking, nothing broken.  When we were born again we were made the righteousness of God in Chirst.  That is who we are but we must live out who we are.  Before we were born again we were unrighteous and that unrighteousness manifested in sinful behavior. As righteous then we need to live out of our righteous spirit.  The results is not only wholeness but also fruitfulness in the kingdom of God and in our lives.  When we make discovering our righteousness our aim and goal then we will discover truly who we are.  Righteousness means to stand in the presence of the Father without any sin or condemnation or shame or guilt.  This is not just accredited to our account but we were actually made righteous by the Spirit of resurrection of Christ.  To be this righteous we have to be just like our Father God.

“He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” ‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:21‬ ‭NASB‬‬

Choose to believe and meditate on your righteousness until it becomes more real in your thinking than your sins.
