Devotions:

“Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon me: Lord, be thou my helper. Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.” ‭Psalms‬ ‭30:10-12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The Lord hath done great things for them. The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad. Turn again our captivity, O Lord, as the streams in the south.”  ‭Psalms‬ ‭126:1-4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Here the Psalmist is rejoicing because of the Lord's deliverance for them from captivity.  We have been delivered from a greater captiivity which they never experienced in this life.  We have been better delivered from the bondage of sin that would destroy us.  Yet for many this seems a very small thing. How do I know? Because their reaction is very mild and nonexpressive.  Well I just do not feel it. The Israelites had a physical deliverance, they felt the cruel bondage, ours is a spiritual deliverance which has great physical ramifications.  We should then intentionally give loud praise and thanksgiving for what we have received from the hand of the Lord. We are not to wait on our feelings but act on what we know, that we have been set free from the kingdom of darkness.  We have been delivered from the oppressor.  When we act on this our emotions will follow.  God has turned our mourning in to dancing but if we do not act on it then we will live as we are still in mourning because of the bondage but we have been set free.  Act like the word of God is true, because it is!

“Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:” ‭Colossians‬ ‭1:12-13‬ ‭KJV‬‬
