Delighting in God

Devotions:

“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” ‭‭ Psalms‬ ‭1:1-3‬ ‭KJV

All of want to be blessed rather than cursed. Many people blame others for their situation in life. They do understand why they have bad luck, as they call it, why nothing seems to go right for them. It is because they are walking in their own ways.

“O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.” ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭10:23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We as Christians have access to the counsel of Almighty God, if we will take time to listen to Him. When we knowingly live in sin we block our ability to hear from God and open the door to the enemy to our deepest counsel. We cannot selectively hear from God and only choose to hear what is pleasing to us.  We must be committed that when we hear, and know it is God, we will act. If we want God's blessings and He is the only good in the universe, then we must do it God's way. We have the grace of God. Grace is first total forgiveness and then the power of God within us to empower us to walk upright. We must access grace by faith and if we are in control of our lives then Jesus cannot be.  He does a much, by far better job that we can do.

Psalm one says to turn from the ungodly, sinners and the scornful and delight in the word of God.
