Not Our Own
Devotions:
“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 KJV
We act like we are our own boss but we do not belong to our selves, we belong to God. Before we accepted God's redemption of us we were under the rule of Satan. Now we are under God's rule. We cannot just let our bodies do whatever it wants to do. We are not to live for our own pleasure. We are to live to please God.
“When a man's ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.”
Proverbs 16:7 KJV
As we walk in the ways of God, we will walk in His blessings. God is a good God. He will take care of our every need as we follow Him.
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Matthew 6:33 KJV
God's ownership means that He will take care of us but we receive everything from God by faith. So as we walk in His ways we make ourselves available to receive His blessings. Our faith then expects to receive His provision for every area of our lives. John Lake knew about God' healing provision and walked in it and ministered it very effectively but he did not know about God's financial provision. So when someone told lies about him in the US when he was in Africa, the money was cut off. He told the African pastors that he was supporting. They said that they would go out into the bush to preach even without support even if they starved. Many of them did starve but this was not God's perfect will. We must receive God's provision by faith, trusting, acting in expectation.
